Artist, Kalah Crawford based out of Columbia, SC found her passion in the art industry in 2017. Taking one single art class in 1999, Kalah Crawford found that drawing came easy for her. It wasn’t until 2027 that she learned that she was more talented in painting than she knew. Though she surfaced a few basic paintings in the past, she never found an interest or will to learn more about it until then. She specializes in acrylic paintings In 2017, she illustrated her first book, Within the Walls of Mount Pisgah by Rev. Virginia F. Davis, she has participated in a group exhibition, ArtLinc Festival in Columbia, SC and was a featured artist for COR’s Time for Art Gala at Tapp’s Art Center in Columbia SC. In 2018, she began hosting Brushes & Beverages events, obtained her LLC and has begun collaborating with other artists. In 2018, Kalah was offered an opportunity to hang an original piece of work in the restaurant “The Twist”. She is on her way to paving a way for her future to become a full-time artist. She has been selected to paint live at the SC Met Gala with celebrity host, former Miss USA 2017 Kara McCullough and James Patrick. She was also offered her first contract to partake in her first big Exhibition at Gallery120 in Clover, SC for February 2019. In June of 2019, a second illustration was created for the book 21 Days to the New You by Danielle Davis, M.ED. A.D.D. Art by Kalah, LLC, a third illustration was created from the book I Am Natural by Nakita Foreman, she was also given the opportunity to display all of her artwork in a newly opened restaurant/lounge in West Columbia, SC called Noah’s Restaurant and Lounge and in Amaker Law Firm, LLC. Kalah was commissioned for her very first oil painting that showcased the story behind Joshua Corley through a Museum Exhibit presented by Dr. Walter Curry at the Aiken County Historical Museum. She was also selected as an exhibitor for The Saul Alexander Gallery for August 2020. She is the CEO of A.D.D. Art by Kalah, LLC and is in the process of furthering her education in art. She has been inspired by the work of past and present artists in many ways that it has made her learn different genres and create art that doesn’t follow a certain style but follows an expression. Her art is the exact same way as she is, inspiring, motivated to tell a story and capture the attention of her audience, it’s complicated and it’s an expression without boundaries.
